it's a virus -symptoms can last up to 8 weeks. treat the symptoms, avoid children & the elderly when the lesions are present & follow up with your doctor. there is no cure for a virus.

There is an immunization kids can get for the chicken pox – none of my kids have had it yet because of it and my oldest is 15, youngest is 6. Treatment is to put calamine lotion on the bumps because they itch and then they scab and itch some more and also leave marks behind from the scab itching. Oatmeal baths, Ibuprofen, good old fashion mothering like chicken soup and ice cream help. Let it run it’s course – maybe 2 weeks if it is really bad. When you run a fever you can contaminate a whole classroom and/or half the school.
